Berkshire Pigs

Only Berkshire pigs raised at Broad Brook Acres. Berkshires are medium sized with adult boars weighing about 600 pounds and  sows weighing about 500 pounds. Unlike traditional pigs, Berkshires are black with four white socks, a white splash on the snout, and a white tip to the tail

Berkshire pork, prized for juiciness, flavor, and tenderness, is pink-hued and heavily marbled. Its high fat content makes it suitable for long cooking and high-temperature cooking. The meat also has a slightly higher pH, making the meat darker, firmer, and more flavorful.

Pasture-Raised Chcken

Our chickens are raised outside, scratching in the dirt, keeping the grass trimmed down and eating bugs like chickens love to do! They enjoy a healthy complete diet from a local feed mill(Support local!) and the quality of their life and diet show in the great flavor profile, quality and texture of our chicken. Once you try it, you'll never go back to the water-logged chicken found in the big box stores! 

Beef

Our breeding beef herd is comprised of several breeds, but the largest influence is Charolais as of the last few years. We have found that the hardiness of the Charolais cross is excellent and the flavor and marbling of the meat is amazing. Our cattle are pasture-raised and the majority of their diet is grass or hay that we harvest. The fields we harvest are pesticide/herbicide free and only natural fertilizers have been used for many years. We do  not carry organic certifications, but we try our best to follow organic practices in our management.
